Lash Lift in Tarzana

A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes from the root, so they look longer and open up the eyes without extensions or a lash curler. Results typically last about six to eight weeks.

What a lash lift does

A lash lift works like a perm for your lashes. Lashes are positioned on a small silicone shield, a lifting solution softens them into a curl from the base, and a setting solution locks the shape. Because it uses only your own lashes, the effect is natural: longer-looking, lifted lashes that hold a curl through the day.

Tinting can be discussed at your appointment. Ask which product is used: the FDA has approved only one color additive for dyeing eyelashes and eyebrows, and advises against using unapproved dyes near the eyes.

Who a lash lift suits

  • Straight or downward-pointing lashes that do not hold a curl
  • People who use a lash curler every morning and want to skip it
  • Anyone who wants lashes that look longer without the upkeep of extensions
  • Clients who swim, work out, or travel and want lashes that stay lifted
  • Brides and guests who want open, defined eyes for photos

Very short or sparse lashes see a subtler change, because the lift can only work with the length you already have. Lash lifts are not recommended during an active eye infection, with irritated eyelids, or for people with known sensitivity to perming solutions.

Timing a lash lift before a wedding or event

Because results last about six to eight weeks, many clients book a lash lift one to two weeks before a wedding, vacation, or photo shoot. That leaves time for a patch test beforehand and lets the lashes settle so mascara and false lashes apply easily on the day. If you are planning permanent eyeliner, schedule the two apart and ask Mahsa which should come first.

Before your appointment

  • Ask about a patch test; manufacturers typically recommend one 48 to 72 hours before a first treatment.
  • Stop retinol and strong actives around the eyes three to five days beforehand.
  • Arrive without eye makeup and remove contact lenses.
  • Lash lifts are not done over irritated or infected eyes, or over recent permanent eyeliner. People with chemical sensitivities should talk with their eye doctor first.

Aftercare

  • Keep lashes dry and avoid steam, saunas, and swimming for about 24 to 48 hours.
  • Do not rub your eyes or use a lash curler.
  • Wait a day or two before applying mascara, and use an oil-free remover.
  • Sleeping on your back for the first night helps keep the curl even.
  • Seek medical care for eye pain, lasting redness, swelling, or vision changes.

Questions clients ask

How long does a lash lift last?

A lash lift typically lasts about six to eight weeks, until the lifted lashes shed and new lashes grow in.

Does a lash lift damage your eyelashes?

When done properly with lash-specific products and enough time between treatments, a lash lift should not damage healthy lashes. Over-processing or repeating it too often can make lashes dry or brittle.

Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?

Yes, after the first day or two. Many clients find they need less mascara, and an oil-free remover helps the curl last.

Lash lift or extensions: which should I choose?

Choose a lash lift for a natural, low-maintenance curl using your own lashes. Choose extensions if you want added length and volume and do not mind regular fills.

How long does a lash lift take?

A lash lift appointment usually takes about 45 minutes.

Is lash tinting safe?

Tinting products can irritate the eyes, and the FDA has approved only one color additive for dyeing lashes and brows. Ask which product is used, and skip tinting if you have sensitive eyes or allergies.
