Who takes a bridal makeup class
Two very different people book these classes, and the lesson is built differently for each.
- Makeup artists adding bridal work. Bridal is its own discipline: it has to survive a twelve-hour day, read correctly in photographs and in person, and be delivered on a schedule with a room full of people waiting. The Professional MUA Advanced Training package is the one built for this.
- Beauty professionals widening what they offer. People who already have beauty clients and want to add bridal makeup to the same appointment.
- Brides doing their own wedding makeup. A real and growing choice. You learn your own face rather than a general routine, and you practise the look before the day.
- Confident makeup lovers who want glam that holds, for their own events rather than for clients.
Tell Mahsa which of these you are on the lesson questionnaire and she will recommend the package that fits, or tell you if a shorter lesson is enough.
Why bridal makeup is taught differently from everyday makeup
Most makeup is judged in a mirror, from two feet away, for an evening. Bridal makeup is judged in a photograph, from the back of a room, under lighting nobody chose, hours after it was applied — and then again in pictures the client will keep for the rest of their life.
- It has to last. Longer-wearing technique is part of both packages, because a bridal look is applied in the morning and seen at midnight.
- It has to photograph. What reads as beautiful in person and what reads in a camera are not always the same thing, and bridal work has to do both.
- It has to suit a face, not a trend. Mahsa teaches design around the individual features in front of you, which is the part that transfers to every client you ever take.
- It has to be repeatable on different skin. Camera-ready technique across different skin types is explicitly part of the Professional MUA Advanced Training package.
- It has to be delivered on a clock. Speed, hygiene, and kit habits are taught as skills in their own right, because on a wedding morning they decide whether the schedule holds.
Who you are learning from
Mahsa Gerami is a working bridal and permanent makeup artist in Tarzana, not a full-time instructor. Her career spans bridal, red carpet, editorial, and special effects makeup, and she regularly does bridal makeup for Persian, Jewish, Armenian, and multicultural weddings. Persian bridal makeup is her specialty, and she teaches in English or Farsi.
She has taught before: she was an instructor at Elite Permanent Makeup in 2022. She has also completed in-person professional makeup artistry training with celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic.
Attending that training is continuing education for Mahsa. It is not an endorsement, affiliation, or certification from Mario Dedivanovic or his brand, and it does not describe Mahsa's own client list. Read more about Mahsa.
Persian, Jewish, Armenian, and multicultural bridal makeup
Los Angeles bridal work is not culturally generic, and an artist who cannot do a Persian or Armenian bride well is turning down a large share of the city's weddings. Mahsa does this work regularly and teaches from it: what these brides tend to ask for, how the look has to hold through a long multi-part day, and how to run the consultation in Farsi when that is what the family is most comfortable with.
See Persian bridal makeup for how Mahsa approaches this work for her own clients.
Where classes happen, and who travels to Tarzana
Classes are taught at Mahsa's studio at 18321 Ventura Blvd, Suite 680, Tarzana, on the Ventura Boulevard corridor in the San Fernando Valley. Because the packages are split across several days, students usually come from somewhere they can drive to comfortably and repeatedly.
- From the west Valley — Woodland Hills, Encino, Reseda, Northridge, Canoga Park — the studio is a short local drive.
- From the east Valley and over the hill — Sherman Oaks, Studio City, North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale — it is a straight run along Ventura Boulevard or the 101.
- From the Westside and Beverly Hills, students usually plan around traffic and prefer the earlier sessions in the day.
- Parking: paid building parking, no validation. Free street parking across from the building may be available but is not guaranteed. Arrive about 15 minutes early.
Group classes are also available, typically 2 to 3 hours, with the location set at booking. Those are social and introductory rather than professional training — see makeup lessons.
How to enroll
- Send the questionnaire. The lesson questionnaire asks your experience, your goal, and whether you want bridal work for clients or for yourself.
- Mahsa recommends a package. She will tell you whether Advanced or Professional MUA Advanced Training fits, and she will say so if neither is necessary for what you want.
- Agree your dates. Classes are private, so the days are arranged directly with her rather than joining a scheduled class.
- Learn, then practise between sessions. The packages are deliberately split across several days for exactly this reason.

The two packages that cover bridal technique
Bridal makeup is taught inside Mahsa's private lesson packages rather than as a separate course, so you learn it alongside the skills it depends on. Both packages are split across several days so you can practice between sessions.

Questions clients ask
Where can I learn bridal makeup in Los Angeles?
Mahsa Gerami teaches private bridal makeup classes at her studio at 18321 Ventura Blvd, Suite 680, Tarzana, in the San Fernando Valley. Bridal technique is covered in the Advanced package ($2,000, 10 hours over 4 days) and the Professional MUA Advanced Training package ($3,000, 15 hours over 6 days). Classes are one-on-one, in English or Farsi.
Do you offer bridal makeup classes near Burbank?
The studio is in Tarzana, which is a direct drive from Burbank along the 101 or Ventura Boulevard. Students also come from Glendale, North Hollywood, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino, and Woodland Hills. Classes are taught at the Tarzana studio rather than in Burbank.
Can a bride learn to do her own wedding makeup?
Yes, and it is a common reason people book. A private lesson is built around your own face and the products you own rather than a general routine, and you practise the look before the wedding. Say in the questionnaire that it is for your own wedding so Mahsa can plan the lesson around your date.
Is this training for professional makeup artists?
The Professional MUA Advanced Training package ($3,000, 15 hours over 6 days) is designed for working and aspiring makeup artists and covers bridal and camera-ready technique on different skin types, plus speed, hygiene, and kit habits for working with clients. It is advanced makeup instruction and does not grant a government license.
How much do bridal makeup classes cost?
Bridal technique is taught inside two private packages: Advanced is $2,000 for 10 hours over 4 days, and Professional MUA Advanced Training is $3,000 for 15 hours over 6 days. There is no separate bridal-only price.
How long are the classes?
Advanced is 10 hours split across 4 days. Professional MUA Advanced Training is 15 hours split across 6 days. They are split deliberately so you can practise between sessions. Group classes, which are social rather than professional training, typically run 2 to 3 hours.
Are bridal makeup classes the same as permanent makeup training?
No, and they are separate categories. Bridal makeup classes teach makeup application. Permanent makeup training teaches cosmetic tattooing — microblading, lip blush, and lash line work — in private courses with their own tuition and a certificate of completion. See permanent makeup training.
Are classes taught in Farsi?
Yes. Mahsa teaches in English or Farsi, and Persian bridal makeup is her specialty.
Do I need my own makeup kit?
Tell Mahsa what you already own in the questionnaire. Part of the lesson is using the products you have rather than replacing them, and she will tell you before the class whether anything else is worth bringing.
